Week 7: Individual Responsibilities of Board Members

On the NFTY-SW website there is an election packet that lists the incredibly specific responsibilities on each board position. I am going to explain the responsibilities here and their importance to the function of our region.

The President

The youth leader in charge of the region, the President organizes and conducts board meetings. They are in constant communication with the rest of the regional board in order to oversee, support, and assist them with whatever they may need. 
The President is responsible for overlooking and coordinating all activities within their region, including the planning and carrying out of regional events.
The President is responsible for representing their region by serving on the NFTY General Board, attending Mechina and Veida (the two year national board meetings) and representing their region to other congregations and organizations.
Lastly, the President (and all board positions) are responsible for maintaining contact with their networks- all of the members of TYG boards in their region who have the same position.

The Programming Vice President

The PVP is the highest ranking vice President on board and serves as the President in absence of the President. They are the program specialist and are responsible for circulating new programs and programming ideas through the region and TYG networks. The PVP assists the President in programming, and can guide other board members in creating programs as well.
Other responsibilities include assisting in the planning and carrying out of programming at events, serving as a representative of the region, and staying in contact with the PVP network of the region.

The Social Action Vice President

The SAVP serves as the region leader of NFTY projects include new regional programs put forth to fulfill the priorities of the NFTY movement. They coordinate and carrying out social action activity for the region as well as informing the region about NFTY’s current Action Theme. 
In addition, they are responsible for creating two Social Action programs during the NFTY year to educate their region on current issues.

The Religious and Cultural Vice President

The RCVP is the leader of services for a region, responsible for conducting services at regional events. They are responsible for planning and carrying out general activities during events as well, and work to connect regional event themes with Judaism. The regional RCVP also is responsible for connecting with the TYG RCVP network, and representing their region on the national level.

The Membership Vice President

The MVP keeps track of rosters of the regional board, TYG boards, and advisors and circulates them about the regions twice a year. They ensure high membership on the temple and regional levels and are responsible for improving the quantity and level of commitment for all members of the region. They organize all ‘new member experience’ events, and tend to be responsible for planning socials.
The regional MVP is also responsible for connecting with the TYG MVP network, and representing their region on the national level. 

The Communications Vice President 

The CVP serves as the administrative secretary to the regional president. They take minutes on all regional board meetings and are responsible for sending respective notices and necessary materials, which may include minutes, to TYGs, advisors, the NFTY office, and the regional advisory committee.

The maintain a file with past meeting records for reference to prior decisions, are responsible for the creation and sale of regional merchandise and giveaways. The regional CVP is also responsible for connecting with the TYG CVP network, along with the regional cabinet members responsible for communication in the region such as the historian, editor, or webmaster. They also are responsible for representing their region on the national level
